Today I saw a term on the internet that I didn't know the meaning of. It said, "flat mounts for your home".
"What in the world is that?" was my response. "Is it something for setting up a mobile home, or for leveling an RV?"
Now, I don't always feel the need to find the meaning of every word or
phrase or term I see or hear, but there are days I do feel that need. I
guess this was one of those days, because I decided to check it out.
It turns out that I am glad I did as it is something I actually have
been wanting to learn more about. I have a 51" flat screen TV that I
have sitting on a small table, taking up room in my over stuffed
living room, so I have been thinking I would like to get, or at least
look into getting, one of those things you use to hang the TV on the
wall. Well, this is one of those things. Now I know, now I get to
learn more about how to do it, what to use, and what it all will cost
me. Good thing I followed my instincts to check this out.
I am grateful for the internet and for the information I find on here.
I am grateful I am learning to follow my instincts.
Welcome to a tiny part of my life. I'm sure you will find something here that will interest you as there is "a bit of everything" here. ****All poems and photographs on this site are the work and the property of Alice Price (unless otherwise stated). Fire Fox Issues.... or is it my Computer??
I have had a problem with Fire Fox on my other laptop and when it has happened, my friend Dan has always fixed it by doing a complete cleaning of my computer then putting programs back in. I am now having this exact same problem with Fire Fox on my new laptop. I don't have a clue how to reformat hard drive, and Dan had to move to Alberta for work nearly a year ago, so I guess I am just stuck with this FF problem. I can still use this as my browser of choice, but it is most annoying to have it working like this. The tabs at the top can't be seen except when I move my mouse up to the top of the page, then it moves down to show the tabs, but moves back again as soon as I move the mouse. Also, the bar on the bottom of my page with the clock etc. on it disappears and I have to close FF to see that again. Another thing, all of my bookmarks go away and I can no longer access them!! Most annoying!! I have found a way around this though. If I open a second tab, then pull it away so it make a second window, then the second window does work the way Fire Fox is supposed to work. I can handle having 2 windows open to have the program work as it was meant to do.

Another Missed Ride
I stayed home today and did some work around the house: washing dishes, doing a bunch of cleaning in my bedroom, as
well as doing some laundry. After all that, I was dirty and all sweaty. I was so happy
that this is the night that the Vernon Chapter of the All Canadian Riders Club (ACRC) ride is on, and
I fully planned to go riding with the club this evening. I haven't
ridden with the club for a few weeks now due to other things keeping me
busy and getting in my way. This time, just before heading out the door, I remembered I have
some important projects to do online before 9pm. This is a commitment I
made and must follow through on. The ride starts at 6pm each Tuesday
and at this time of year the ride would be shorter than during the hot
evenings of summer, but I doubt I would be back home in time to do the
work if I went riding, so again I have missed a club ride. I wish them
all a great ride and I look forward to riding with them again. I wish I
had done the work sooner to meet my commitment in time to be able to go
out riding. Something to work on for next time!!

I'm Home!!
Here I am, safe and sound at home with my laptop plugged in and the battery recharging. Earlier I was sitting outside on a table at one of the Tim Horton's coffee house/restaurants we have in our city. I drank tea while doing some blogging. When my battery got too low, I had to shut down the laptop and head home on my trike. It sure has gotten a LOT cooler at night, just in the last 2 days or so. I am so grateful I took my hoodie along today as it really was a very cool ride home along the lake. It was a bit cool at Tim Horton's but not uncomfortable at all, though when riding you must add the wind chill factor in and it is much cooler than when just sitting. I had to stop along the way to take off my helmet and put up the hood of the hoodie, then put the helmet back on. I will be zipping the longer ear/neck liner in for the evenings now, having it with me on the trike for whenever I need it. When I got home I checked the thermometer in my carport and it's just under 14 degrees Celsius and it is cooler closer to the lake I ride past.
Anyway, now I'm home in the warmth and comfort of my own home and back on the internet. Since I didn't sleep much or well last night, I will not be on the computer long at all. I think I will take a few minutes to look at some cheap T shirts online, then will go crawl into bed with my wonderful cat and see if I can have a better night than the last one.

My new computer
A few weeks ago I had serious problems with my laptop and decided to go out and buy a new one. I looked around the local area for deals
on laptops, not wanting to take the time for one to be shipped if I ordered it off the internet. I found one I like and it was even in the right price bracket for my budget, so I bought it. It seems like a good enough computer, though I find I have a lot of problems with the keyboard and don't seem to be getting used to it very well. I am finding that sometimes the letters I type don't actually appear so I have to go back and type in the ones missed... and sometimes I get 2 or 3 when I just wanted one! I am not totally pleased with this, needless to say.... yet it still is a fairly good computer other than the keyboard. For the money I paid it could be a lot worse too. Over all, I am grateful to have this new computer, and that the old one that seemed to be dying is still holding in there and I am able to use it for some things yet.

New Laptop!!!
Sadly, my computer died a few days ago and I have been unavoidably
offline. I now have purchased a new computer and am back to business so
to speak, lol.
It took a bit to get things set up on this new one, especially since I
really don't know what I'm doing, yet I have managed to do it and am
back in action. I still need to install a few programs, though am
grateful to be online. My blogs, my Facebook, my emails... yup, I'm
back!!
I am so grateful that I was able to find a computer that meets my needs and wants.
I am so grateful that I was able to have the money to purchase this new computer.
I am so grateful to be back online again.

DVD Burning Completed
Last night, Dan MSNed me a DVD burning program and I was able to burn 3 movies to a DVD for my friend. He still came and got all his blanks so he can take them to the other friend to have more done, and that's okay. At least I did what I said I would do. I followed through on a promise and that is important to me. Now, if I want to burn any more DVDs I can in future, though this is not something I tend to do a lot. I just don't seem to need them too often. I do plan to get the necessary cable(s) so I can plug my computer to the TV and watch my downloaded movies on the big 51". Maybe I can even plug in to the older TV in the bedroom so I can watch movies while relaxing on my comfy bed. I am very Grateful to my friend Dan for helping me out once again.

DVD Burning
I downloaded some movies from the internet, and a friend without a computer wants me to burn him some. He even brought some bland DVDs over today for me to do this for him. I've burned DVDs before, but not for a long time and not on this particular computer, and not with the program this computer has on it... Windows DVD Burner or something like that. It was taking a terrible long time and not really getting anywhere. I talked to my friend Dan on MSN and he said he could send me another program that would work better, and walk me through using it. He uses Ashampoo all the time, apparently. So fine, I cancelled the one I had going and he sent me the file over MSN, but after taking a long time to transfer the file, just when it's about to be done, suddenly I get a message that it can't be completed. We tried different ways, including zip file and still it can't be sent to me. So after hours of trying to get the program, all I have is a beastly headache and a ton of frustration. Guess I'll re-start the Windows DVD program and just let it run all night, hoping it's finished by morning. I could have used all these wasted hours for something much more productive.

Computer Updates
My computers have been giving me a lot of problems lately, and I am very happy to say I am soon to be beyond all the problems. My friend Dan reformatted my old HP laptop which never has been a good computer even though I paid over $1000 for it. I will never buy another Hewlett Packard computer after all the problems I've had with this one. A few years ago I bought a cheap Acer laptop for under $400 and it has been a far better computer for me than the HP ever was. I am glad though that I still have the HP kicking around as a 'back up' computer as I now am using it while Dan does the reformat on the Acer. Than I will be using it again as my main computer and this one as a back up will again sit on the computer desk and collect dust until it is needed for any reason.
In the meantime, my friend CJ told me she's been using coupons to save $$ and is trying to get a coupon exchange going in our town. I guess many companies give coupons to let people save money while purchasing their products. I know where you can get Kohls coupons, and I know that some coupons come in the mail or in flyers in the newspaper. I'm going to start using more coupons.

Thanks for the help
Last night I posted a message to the PayU2Blog message board that I needed help with doing a screen print. I got two very helpful answers and was able to do the job, as you can see if you scroll down past yesterdays quote of the day. Not only did I get that help, but Owen was nice enough to do a post on his blog about how to do this, and even gave an alternate way for users of Vista.
I used the Snipping Tool to copy this from Owen's blog.
I found it easy to do, the only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it has the red line around it. Not a problem here, but would be in the case of what I posted below.
Thanks Owen, neighborhood geek.

HELP!!! Please?
Hi All.... I need to do a screen shot, but don't know how. On my laptop, I know I have to hold down the function key as well as clicking on the print screen key... but what else? When I do that much nothing happens, so there must be something I'm missing. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks in advance for any info here.

Better News on the New Blog
I am very happy to report that things are better today. Due to frustration I stayed away from the computer for most of the day, then came on just to check my emails. I was delighted to find supportive comments waiting for me to moderate. (Thanks Travis - Trav's Thoughts; Kai - The Buzz Queen; Maiylah - Picture Clusters; Laane - Laane on the World)
James (a.k.a. Shadow), is the fellow that, through WordPress was a sweetheart and uploaded WP to my domain. He came to my rescue today and straightened out my blog so it's now working. I even have some 'stuff' posted there.
I have SOooo much to learn about using WP, but hey, I learned how to use Blogspot, so eventually I will be using WordPress like a pro and looking back to now with a laugh at myself.... I hope, haha.

New Blog Problems
Due to changing things at PayPerPost, it has become important to have a blog on my own domain, or so 'they' say. So I paid for a year of web hosting and such, almost $90. I kept trying to figure out how to use Wordpress for doing my blog with. It is so overwhelming that I got nowhere with it. You go to read a page of information and there are so many links on that one page to go to more info pertaining to the info you are trying to make head or tail of. Pretty soon you have 20 pages open and each of them has untold numbers of links too. Finally I get too overwhelmed and feeling useless that I just shut down the computer and go to bed... even in the afternoon.
Finally I got the guys at Wordpress to upload it to my domain for me, thinking that once that was done life would be ever so much easier. I even got to make one post on it before I messed it all up. Tonight I got brave and uploaded a nice theme/template to use. I did everything the instructions said to do, and they said if I'd uploaded it correctly I would see it in the wp admin. Sure enough, it's in the wp admin., but some thing's not right. Now, instead of getting my home page when going to my URL, you get the directory list. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRR!!!
I am feeling tonight like I wasted almost $90. Like I'm not going to be able to run a blog on my own domain, so it will just sit there not being used after I paid for it. So I'm going to go to bed and forget about this for tonight. I'll see how I feel about it all tomorrow. I love my laptop, but am currently feeling like throwing it across the room. Time to 'de-stress'.

Computer Woes
WARNING: This is whining.
This computer is driving me crazy! I'm not the world's best or fastest typist, but I can, and do, type much faster than this computer shows the words typed. Every so often I have to stop typing and wait for the computer to catch up so I can see what I've done.
When I click on a tab or on a link to go to another site I have a very long wait for this old door stop to bring up what I am waiting for. I sit and watch TV while I wait for this pc to catch up to things I want to do. I'm feeling like I should have a book to read while I work on this thing.
The last several days there have been very few ops on PayPerPost, so this evening when I again refreshed my PPP ops page I was delighted to see 18 ops there that I was qualified to take, and most of them were still available, not reserved by anyone else. I quickly scrolled down and clicked on one op then waited for the page to come up...... and waited. Once it was up I clicked on the button to Take This Opportunity, only to have it tell me that all the ops for this one were already reserved. By the time I got back to the available ops page and clicked on another one, etc., it too was taken out from under me. Then almost all the ops were already gone. I was very fortunate to get one that I guess was a "least favorite" one as it was last to go.
I know that there were many bloggers out there waiting for an op, the same as I was, so when they came it was a frenzy of bloggers grabbing them up... and I know that if my computer was not so painfully slow I would have gotten one I tried for earlier, before it was gone.

I definitely spend way too much time on my computer, and I believe that if I had a new pc I could do my blogging and other "stuff" in half or maybe one third of the time it takes me now, so maybe I will actually get other stuff done too. Maybe... just maybe :o)
This evening on TV news they were saying that February and July are the best time to shop for furniture as that is when it's on sale, and that July and August, just before school goes back in, is the best time to buy a computer, it's when computers are on the best sales. I wanted to wait until I had a good chunk of money earned and saved with PPP before I bought my new pc, but I am now very seriously thinking of going into debt to get it some time this month. I am for sure going to be grabbing the local news paper to get the flyers from all the stores that sell computers. I want to see what is available and where I can get the best deal.

Gotta Love It!

Thought I'd share with you one of the Birthday gifts I got. Dan gave me a HP printer-scanner-copier All In One. How's that for cool. I really needed a scanner and a printer, so this will come in very handy. I've scanned a couple pictures and now am working on scanning a cook book I borrowed from Mom and she wants back asap. As soon as I find some of the "old" pictures of me that I know I have around here somewhere, I will scan them and show you "me over the years".

Computer Repairs Revisited
It's taken me awhile to get time to post this, but wanted to show you all. Here is my friend Dan working on my computer when it was dead.
I took this picture then left the room to go do something else. I heard some strange sparking sounds then went back in to see what was happening....

YES!!! Finally!!!
Dan took my computer home with him yesterday as it really was not working right... more like barely working. Today (after many hours of working on it) he brought it back and had it all set up for me by the time I got home from church and lunch out with some women from church and the 4T Prosperity Program I am involved with. Anyway... this computer is now working really great!!! I am so very grateful to Dan for all the work he did on it for me. I am also very grateful I was able to get the new power system for it and get the hard drive repaired so that Dan could do the things he did to it. I am prospered!!! and I am BACK!!

Good News and well....
Okay.... the good news is... I am on my computer at home again!!!! I had to buy a new power source and have the hard drive repaired. Today Dan spent a bunch of time putting programs back on here for me. He will be back tomorrow to work on it some more, having made sure it at least works enough for me to use it a bit tonight. Unfortunately it is not working right at all at this point, but I am happy that it is at least working. I now know thoo that the motherboard is on it's way out too, but should hold in there for awhile yet anyway. Soooo I have to try to put a few $$$ away for getting a new computer at some point down the road. So maybe in the mean time I will win a contest and get a free computer... maybe even a lap top... hhhmmm. Stranger things have happened and I'm liking this idea.
