ABC Wednesday & Wordless Wednesday (Tell Me Thursday)

ABC Wednesday

Today the letter is N,O,P... I'm playing Catch Up!

N is for New paint job.
O is for Oldie yet Goodie.
P is for Poach.

1974 Pontiac Firebird.

Not quite stock with its sunroof and head liner as well as a few other things, it is still a very nice car and in great shape. It has had very little work done on it, mostly brakes, some tranny work, and a few other 'maintenance' type things rather than restoration. It is a second owner car, both original and current owners are friends of mine.

I forget now what color I was told it was originally, though it was light blue when I first saw it, and now is this nice dark gray. The new paint job was just done this spring.

This egg is from my own chicken. Obviously not yet poached, it is in a microwave egg poacher, about to go into the microwave. Note the nice, dark color of the egg... so obviously not store bought. The flavor of this egg was awesome, also very unlike the rubber, flavorless things you buy in the store that they call eggs. I found that after having my own chickens I could not go back to eating the store bought things, so had to get chickens again so I would have eggs again that I can eat.

ABC Wednesday & Wordless Wednesday (Tell Me Thursday)

Welcome back for Tell Me Thursday where I tell you about my Wordless Wednesday post, and in this case, the ABC Wednesday too.

It's not really all that exciting a story this week, though I was somewhat excited at the time. My friend Dan picked me up and took me for a drive, as he does a few times a year. We were out driving along Okanagan Lake when we saw this beauty beside the road, not overly concerned with the fact we were there. Since I rarely leave home without my cameras, I was fairly prepared. As I dug the camera out of its case and turned it on, Dan stopped and pulled his truck over to the side of the road. I got out and started taking photos of this mule deer that was still rather unconcerned about the whole thing. It was like she knew I was not out to hurt her. I was totally grateful for her trust in me as well as for my zoom lens and digital camera. After a bit, as she heard another car coming along, she opted to leave which was okay with me since our photo shoot had been so successful and was pretty much over anyway.

ABC Wednesday

Today the letter is M.

M is for Mule Deer.

ABC Wednesday

Today the letter is L.

L is for Lake.

These photos were all taken on February 24, 2008.
They are of the Lake I see out my windows. In summer I have done Dragon Boating on this lake, and on the day of these photos I drove my truck on it. In winter, many things happen on this lake, including car races as you see here. The people drive their trucks out onto the lake, pulling the race cars on trailers behind them, then unload and spend the day racing on the ice.

About to drive out... getting up my nerve

Racing cars

Trucks and trailers of the racers

Made sure I got the rear view mirror in this shot so you can actually see my truck on the lake without me getting out. Guess I was lazy that day

A closer look at the van in the first photo. Ice fishermen at work... or is that play

More people playing on the frozen lake

Headed towards the 'exit'

Here's me leaving the lake

I had planned to drive out on the lake again this winter, further than the first time, and I never did get around to doing it. It is far past time for that now and the ice, though still on the lake, is very thin, and melted away to open water in many places around the edges of the lake.

Would you like to know what the story is behind these photos?
I can't tell you on Wordless Wednesday!
Come back tomorrow for my first post to
