Working

As many of you already know, I do occasionally post ads on my blogs. I used to post them for Pay Per Post, as well as for PayU2Blog. Some time ago, due to a drop in my Page Rank, I found I wasn't getting any work from PPP, so I quit even checking there for any, and have been posting exclusively for PayU2Blog.

With PPP, I usually had to write posts exclusively about the product and my opinion on it, usually told to make it 'favorable' of course. With PayU2Blog, I do occasionally have to do that type of post, but usually am only required to post a link to the advertiser's web site, putting it in a minimum 60 word post. I like this better as I just have to write something that the word or phrase fits into, without an opinion required.

Recently, PayU2Blog decided that in order to continue working for them, all 'employees' must stop working for PPP and others like that. They also require us to remove links and tinyurls from past ads for these other companies from our blogs. Since I only do work for PU2B, I am fine with that first part, though it sure is a lot of work to go through back posts and do all this extra work. We can't label the posts as "Paid" or "Sponsored" or any words like that, we are just to post them as regular posts or we will no longer receive work, this not only a rule with PU2B, but also with PPP and likely other companies of this sort too. I made a label to put them under that has no words of this sort involved and does not use the company name as that is also against the rules. This is good for me as it makes these posts easier to find at a time like this.

With 2,182 posts done on this blog, as well as all the ones on Reba's Run, it's a lot to sort through to find the sponsored ones to make such changes, without, I might ad, removing the links from the PU2B ads I've done. So far, I've done 90 of them today. Not sure just how many more I have to get done here before heading over to Reba's, but think it's a fair bit yet.

Another requirement of continued 'employment' is to change the Discloser Policy as the original one was from PPP, though it has no link back to them or mention of them in any way. I started by making some small changes, then wiped it all out and used all my own words.

Lots of work.... and work I must do, so do it I will. I do enjoy doing the work for PayU2Blog, and I do find the money I earn is much needed in my life. It's not a huge amount, but does add up after some time, so is much appreciated.

I am posting this to all labels that hold old sponsored posts, even when the labels were still allowd to say they were sponsored. Kind of like 'capping them off'. Also to more current labels where I see fit to put them.

Crafts a la Alice

I've always been one to love doing crafts of different kinds. At one time, in my teens and early twenties, I loved crochet work and made many doilies with the really fine cotton thread. I have some still, and gave some away back then. Next I got into macramé, one of the things I made was a beautiful big white hanging table with a plant holder in it and a glass table top. Embroidery also came into my life around that time, I still have some of the things I made. For awhile I did Punch Embroidery, and Counted Cross Stitch. I did a lot of Native style bean work, with the tiny little seed beads, so have a lot of beaded jewelry that I no longer wear. I've done spinning and weaving, and a little bit of quilting. I keep wanting to get back to my spinning wheel and loom, but seem always to be too busy. In my truck, on the passenger seat, I have a quillow that I made some years ago. A quillow is a pillow that folds out to a quilt. I want to make a couple quillows for Christmas gifts this year if I can find the time to do the work. There are likely other things I've done too along the lines of crafts, but am forgetting about them just now, haha.

I love stones and tend to collect them. I have often looked up what 'powers' different stones/rocks have attributed to them, and I've thought how neat it would be to get involved with making stone jewelry or even just polishing rocks for the beauty of them. I would need one of those rock tumblers, so maybe one day but for me, not today. I have a lot to do before the snow flies here, so all the crafts will have to wait for me.... but I will continue to collect the pretty rocks I see.

Baby Slings

Having no children of my own, you might think I'd be out of my comfort zone talking about baby slings, or baby anything for that matter. However, I have had a lot of family members and friends that have had children, children that 'Auntie Alice' sometimes got to hold or babysit, so I do have opinions here, haha.

I think that 'baby slings' look like good things for parents to have for their child. Slinglings are stylish, comfortable pouch style baby slings. Pouch slings are suitable for babies from birth to approximately 35 lbs., and they even have doll slings so your little girl can carry her baby just like Mom carries hers.

Cartier

What comes to your mind when I say 'Cartier'? Is it the same as what comes to my mind? Yes, when I hear 'Cartier' I think of watches. Really nice watches. Watches of 18K gold. Yes, yellow gold, while gold, rose gold, sometimes all three golds together, and sometimes even diamonds. Many people want them, but not just anyone can have one.

Ladies Golf Apparel

I am not at all into sports, on TV or in real life. I just have never liked them. Well, I did at one time enjoy playing volley ball and did so for awhile on a ladies volleyball team. I don't know what ever happened to that team, but it was a lot of years ago. When my younger brother still lived in this area, 25 years or more ago, I enjoyed going to watch him play hockey with his team. On TV I like to watch horse jumping events. That's as close as I come to enjoying sports, or at least any I've tried so far. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers that all enjoy golfing, 3 of them almost obsessively by my standards, haha. I think my sisters, and any other ladies that like golfing, would enjoy golf apparel ladies shopping at the pro shop.

Las Vegas

I tend to watch a lot of TV programs and am currently enjoying all the season premiers that are on. It's always exciting to see which of my favorite programs from last year are back this season. On the last show of the the spring they always build it way up then leave you hanging.... and you have to watch the fall's season premier to find out what happens. I'm happy to see many of my favorites back and anxious to see more in the next several evenings. Cold Case, House, ER, Grey's Anatomy, Navy NCIS, Boston Legal, CSI to name just a few of them. CSI takes place in Las Vegas, as does another show I'm hoping will come back, namely Las Vegas, lol. What else is in that city? Sahara hotel. I think I would like to visit one of those hotel casinos.

Vacation Thoughts

This year has been going by so fast that it's amazing this year. Here it is already the end of September. Summer is over and fall has officially started. The weather has changed and is getting increasingly cooler, especially now that it is cloudy and raining. It soon will be time to turn on the heat in my home.


With the onset of the colder weather I can't help but think about vacationing in other places, all of them south from here. One that comes to mind is Carolina's Outer Banks.

Real Estate - Luxury

Just for fun, I was just looking at real estate on the other side of the country. Kai had asked if I've ever looked at the listings over there, so I just did. Wow, the prices are so much lower there than they are here, that's for sure. You can even get a brand new 3 bedroom, 2 bath, luxury water front home for under $300, 000! Or a very nice home or about the same size, water view, 10 acres for about the same price. Incredible.

If you like looking at real estate, check this one out Arizona luxury real estate. It's not where I was looking, but it's still very interesting.

Oxygen - The Elixir of Life

In June of 1996, my then 80 year old Dad, 72 year old Mom, and both my sisters were in a major car crash. When the police and fire crews arrived they said "No one is coming out of this one alive", but they were wrong times 4. Yup, everyone came out alive. Rather the worse for wear, but alive. Marcy was flown to Vancouver to the Trauma Unit with shattered hip joint and broken collar bone. Anne and Mom were in the ICU, Anne with internal injuries and Mom with broken bones and head injury. Mom was unconscious, on full life support, not expected to live. After surgery Anne was going to be okay. Dad had sustained seat belt bruising, so was stuck in a back room and forgotten about until my brother Terry & I arrived. Dad was diabetic and had not been fed, so was not feeling well. We insisted he be moved to a room and fed. By the time his meal arrived he was too weak to eat, so we fed him. Then he had a terrible seizure and almost died. He'd had a stroke, due to bleeding caused by the crash and no one had seen it coming. With all of this happening I was falling apart, and I thank God for Terry's then wife Doris who was there and held on tight to me... held me together.

This all happened at Kamloops. Anne got out of hospital and went home after about a week. During this time there were other problems with the poor care Dad was getting, so we had him transferred to Enderby Hospital and his own doctor. He soon was much better and out of danger. Marcy was still in Vancouver, so we really didn't know much about her except she was doing okay for the most part. I spent many hours and many days by Mom's bedside. I read to her and sang to her and just talked a lot, everything positive and uplifting, of course. I insisted that the doctors and nurses never say anything negative within hearing of Mom. Every day I told her how much she was improving, whether it was true or not. Yes, I lied to Mom a lot that summer, and I would do it again. Five weeks later Mom was off life support, awake and doing well. She was then transferred back to Enderby Hospital so she would be close to Dad who was by this time home with 24/7 in home care. Several weeks later Mom also went home and the in home care continued.

Today: Dad has been gone since January 1999, Anne & Marcy are well and you can't even tell they were hurt. Even with having had the shattered hip, M doesn't even have a limp. Mom does have a limp having had her left tibia & fibula broken, left hip broken, and pelvis broken in 2 or 3 places. She also sustained lung damage through it all, so has to have oxygen every night and sometimes "top up" during the day, depending on the level of oxygen in her blood. When she travels she has to take her oxygen machine with her, so this can be an inconvenience, but it is what keeps her going, after all, "oxygen is the elixir of life".

At 84 years of age, Mom is one very incredible woman! I so admire her and her independence. She still drives her own car, and volunteers for Meals On Wheels, delivering meals to shut ins most of whom are younger than she is. She is also a very busy little "social butterfly".

If you need to keep track of the oxygen levels in your blood, you may need a pulse oximeter.

Romance

I often think about romance and what it would be like to have a man in my life, well a man that is more than just a friend, lol. One thing I think would be romantic is weekend (or longer?) getaways. For example, load up our horses into the trailer, hop into the truck with the dog in the back and off we go to some spot we've heard or read about that is wonderful for trail riding. After a wonderful afternoon in the saddle we drive to a restaurant for a nice dinner, then over to the Bed & Breakfast place where we have a reservation for the next couple nights. (Actually, it would be what is called a Bed & Bale, a B&B where you can have your horses.) After checking in, we go to our room to find a small fire burning in the fireplace, a few lighted candles, the covers turned down on the big comfy bed, and a chocolate on each pillow....

If you live or will travel to California, you may want to consider staying in a California bed and breakfast.

Miami Real Estate

Real estate is a very big part of life in our society in this day and age. With available rental homes so hard to find (less that 1% vacancy rate where I live), the cost of renting has gone way up. Many landlords are selling their properties at the high prices in the current real estate market. If you live in Dade County, Florida, you may be wise to check out the Miami real estate market.

Drug Treatment

Somewhere in my long ago past, I deeply loved a man who was addicted to drugs, and to alcohol. He was, at that time, still a very gifted musician and artist, and very intelligent in all ways but getting clean. It's hard to see someone you love give up their power and more or less their life to drugs and/or alcohol. I wish, if he's still alive now, that he would get himself some drug treatment and reclaim his life.

Real Estate Here and There

I tend to get "itchy feet" as they call it, and want to sell my home to move somewhere else... just because I've lived in this home so long. I think the longest I've ever lived in one place before was the farm we had near Smithers, BC. That was my first home as a newborn baby and I was 11 years old when we moved. I bought this place in September 1990 and moved in October 5th, so 17 years ago now. Scary.

I often look at local real estate ads on the internet, and sometimes even ads from around the province. Today I looked at Wilmington NC real estate, and no... I'm not thinking about moving there, though one of my nephews and his son recently moved to Mississippi.

Succession Planning

I've always enjoyed learning new things, so have taken many night school courses over the years. I also, for quite some time now, have been getting emailed to me "Word of the Day" which gives a word and it's meaning. Most of these words I've never heard before and likely will never use because no one I know would know what I was talking about, haha.

Cleaning Up My Finances

Having recently completed a 7 week workshop on prosperity and financial well being, I am still working on organizing my finances as well as other important areas of my life. At this point, for the finances, I am using a book I bought to write down every penny that moves in and out of my life, though maybe financial consolidation software might be a consideration for me too. I tend to do more on the computer than I do in books these days. I am working at figuring out what all I owe on credit cards as well as things like library fines, loans from the Bank of Mom, and such like and keeping track of all payments to these and the utilities and such to run my home. I've really neglected these things over the years, so it's high time I got to it. I also have been meaning for years to write a will. I start but never finish. I bought a will kit a couple weeks ago. We'll see if I get to that now too.

Bed Liners

I think that a truck bed liner is a good thing to have in your truck. These protect the bed from damage caused by anything that you might decide to haul in your truck. In my truck I've hauled a lot of different things like pigs, posts, garbage, boxes for friends that were moving, antique treadle sewing machine, and a lot of other stuff, as well as my dog Reba of course. I'm glad I have a box liner in it that came with the truck when I bought it.

Recently my friend Dan bought a new 2007 Ford Ranger 2 wheel drive pickup, which is mostly Plane Jane basics and not much for extras, but he did go extra and get the bed liner and a tonneau cover to protect it. He refuses to haul things in his truck other than his dry walling tools to and from the job site. To him it's his "car" and not for hauling anything around. It is a very nice truck so I don't blame him for wanting to keep it that way. Some day when I get my new one with lots of extras on it I'm sure I'll be somewhat the same as he is now.

Truck Rack

My friend Mike has the same truck as me, only his Ford Ranger 4x4 is a 1988 and mine a 1992. He has a nice, strong, black metal rack on his. I think they call it a ladder rack because it goes all the way over the cab of the truck and you could easily carry ladders up there if you wanted to. When I first saw it sitting in his yard I told him I wanted one too. Not long ago Mike asked me if I still want a rack like his and of course I say I do. He told me that he has one and will get his friend Pete to cut it down to size for me because it's off a full size truck. He is charging me for it, but giving me such a good deal it's incredible. Part of it is that I have to drive down valley to get it, so the cost of gas will approximately double the total cost. Oh well, I'll get Mike to do an oil change and winterize the truck for me at the same time, thereby saving me money and I'll have a nice couple days visit down there while I'm at it.

I will have to somehow put sides on it for Reba, but at least it will be a good solid rack to work with. The one I built for her this summer is all bent and breaking from her rambunctious behavior.

Golf Equipment

My family of origin is largely made up of golfers. In fact, I am the only one of 5 adult children that does not golf. Whenever my sister Marcy & her husband go visit sister Anne they take their Golf Equipment and the first thing they do is head to some golf course in the lower mainland. Brother Bernie takes vacations to big name golf courses all over North America. Although brother Terry also golfs, he's not as into it as the others are. I don't see much point in chasing a little white ball around the lawns, but I have heard it is wonderful, so maybe one day I will rent some clubs and go give it a try. I remember back in high school one class was out on the field with the teacher trying to show the class how to golf. The most fun my friend Elaine and I had was seeing if we could walk with golf clubs up the legs of our pants.

Vacation Home Orlando

My sister, her husband and their children with their spouses and the grand children, took a trip to Florida earlier this year. From what they said it sounds like a wonderful place to visit. The sunny, warm weather would be wonderful when we are in the throws of winter cold. I always thought the theme parks of Florida would be a lot of fun, but that was when I was younger. Now I think I'd prefer quieter pastimes like visiting horse breeding country. You know I love horses and all animals, so this would be wonderful. However, that's something I could do almost anywhere, so for me the highlight of the trip to Florida would be to take an airboat ride across the Everglades. Can you imagine all the wild life and different trees and plants there are to see in the Florida Everglades?

Ahhh, a dream that can come true.... vacation home Orlando
