DW the Ringneck Parrot Fills My Life With Laughter

Quilly was over for a visit and left a comment to my post "Babbling". Her comment gave me the idea to post some new photos I recently took of DW. In "My Critters" under Labels, you will find more photos of DW and my other animals (Right sidebar).

DW is a 12 year old Ringneck Parrot female who says "Pretty Bird" a lot. She is getting to trust me more and more as time passes. I've only had her since spring. She loves that I now have my armchair right beside her cage, it enables her to come eat dinner with me each day. I eat my meals in the living room, and she comes off her cage to the arm of the chair and sometimes taps my arm to get attention, or even tugs my sleeve or climbs onto my arm or shoulder... and I hand feed her bits of this and that. Unsually I feed her some of what I'm eating, but someetimes have stuff just for her if what I'm eating may not be good for her. I guess if it's not good for her I should think twice about eating it too, haha.

DW is molting in these photos, so looks pretty 'ruff', haha. The fan, I noticed in the photos, was very filthy, so I vacuumed it since then. In summer I use it for cooling things down, but for winter I use it to move the warm air from the pellet stove into the living room and around the house. I actually have 2 standing fans for these purposes. All of these photos were taken September 13, 2008. Since then her feathers have grown back and she looks much better. I need to take more photos again, I guess, haha.

DW is getting so she rides on my shoulder more often, and even now will get off her cage onto me. Before she'd only let me touch her if she was off her cage and in the mood, then I could pick her up and she'd ride on my... sometimes, or she'd fly off. She still does that, but is getting so much more attached to me and I love it as I'm attached to her and have been for quite some time. When she wants attention she'll start telling me she's a "pretty bird", and making really cute sounds between her words. I am expected to repeat this all back to her, and I do my best, lol. I can't imagine life without DW in it now.

Well of course she is... I mean... would she lie about something like that? hahaha... Thanks, Quilly.
