Trip to Vancouver Island - Day 2

Day two began about 4:45am. We all had to be up and get ready to go as we had to be at the ferry by 6am for the 6:30am sailing to Vancouver Island.

Those 3 are the ferry trip from Horseshoe Bay (mainland) to Nanaimo (on Vancouver Island).

Front row left to right: Mom, Anne, Randy, Marcy
Back row left to right: Anne's grand kids Nicole & Dustin

At about 8:20am we got off the ferry in Nanaimo and started driving again, heading across the island to Tofino.

Driving across the island, over a very windy road through the mountains, we passed Kennedy Lake. I took this photo "on the fly". We also passed some incredible old growth forests with giant trees. I wish I had photos of them too. To bad we couldn't have stopped for a short "photo op" amongst the trees.

Day 2 was a long day, so expect more.................

Oh Alice, you don't know how many times we've driven this road! It's pretty bumping and windy isn't it?

Yes Kai, it is pretty bump and windy. I found it a challenge to not get car sick going over this road in the back seat. I don't usually have any problems with car sickness, but this road was a bit tough to take. So I made sure I spent most of the time leaning over so I could see past the seat in front of me and out the windshield. I was glad when we were over it, lol.
