Swine Flu

Just heard on the TV news that an elementary school here has been closed for a week or so. A little girl going to school there has the swine flu. They're saying others will likely have contacted it too. BC has now got a total of 11 cases, Canada 34... 13 countries, 265 cases. Mexico is still the worst.

They say that here the H1N1 virus (commonly called Swine Flu) is not any worse than other flues here, and they are not sure why it's so bad in Mexico.

Washing hands is apparently important in heading off the spread of the virus. We are in the end of the flu season, so they say, so the problem should be over soon. I have no worries about this flu. I haven't had a flu or cold in many years, so believe this does not effect me in any way.

Most of the deaths from swine flu occurred in Mexico. I imagine the quality of the available heath care and sanitation practices play a major role in the spreading of and surviving of the infection.

The very young, the very old and those already ill are most likely to die from influenza infections -- no matter which strain attacks their body. Of those not in Mexico who died from H1N1 only two were in the prime of their lives -- and both of them sought medical care too late.

Keep yourself healthy. Keep yourself clean. Stay hydrated. And visit the doctor quickly if you suspect you're coming down with something.

The people in Mexico may be less healthy to begin with.

Great tips and I'm so glad you don't have to worry. I haven't had the flu in like forever. I do get the flu shot every year. Our company gives them for free so I get it :)
