New Years Eve 2008

For New Years Eve, I was invited out to a friend's home. Andree was having some friends in to celebrate. I had told her, yes, I'd love to come, then yesterday I told her I wouldn't make it after all due to Cherry Chinchilla's health problems. She said I could bring Cherry along too. Part of me wanted to do that and part of me didn't due to the extra stress it could cause Cherry, so I told Andree I didn't think that would be a good idea.

As the hours passed, I decided I really wanted to be with friends for the evening. I have spent way too many hours/days/nights alone and have so often thought how much I'd like to have friends to spend time with again, and here I was refusing to spend time with friends. So, I packed up Cherry Chinchilla, and her food, meds, syringes, a towel, all I would need to nurse her for the evening, and off I went.

It was truly a wonderful evening. We all had a lot of fun, and to hear us laughing and joking around like we were, you would have thought we were drinking 'real' champagne, tho we were drinking what Andree calls 'cheap champagne'. It's sparkling fruit juice and is very nice, yet non-alcoholic. Not that any of us are against drinking in moderation, but it just was really nice to have everyone keeping sober, so safe for the drive home at the end of the evening.

Food, food, more food, card game, tea, pop, 'cheap champagne', all sorts of things to keep us happy and enjoying the evening.

Andree, her boyfriend Al, his mother Lorraine who went home early, Rev. Dale, Hannah, Bev, and myself were all there. She has a very nice little house, older yet very well kept. I really like the old style architecture of some of these old homes, and the light fixtures, hardware and such.

It was somewhere around 1am when we all started to head off to our respective homes. Though I'm sure they were out if full force, I didn't see one police car the whole way home.

I am glad you had some fun and HAppiness. That is a great way to start a New Year -- safe and sane and with people you care about and who care about you.

I'm very sorry to hear about Cherry. I know how much your furry pals mean to you.

I wish you peace and wellness in 2009!
