Bridging The Gap - Day 6

Hello, and welcome to Day 6 of me hosting my first Photo Challenge.
This Photo Challenge is BRIDGING THE GAP.
The idea is to post photos you’ve taken, or you are in, showing a bridge. Tell us something about the bridge, and/or what was happening when you took the photo. Of course, link back here, and leave a message, as well as a link on Mr. Linky, so we can all come have a look at what you've left for us.

Go ahead... think outside the box! I dare ya!

This bridge is in the small town where my Mom & one of my sisters live, the town where I spent many years before moving to where I am now. This is the 'new' bridge. I believe it was built in 1985 and it's the 5th bridge in that location.

I have a book here that I borrowed from my sister some time ago and have never taken the time to read it... gotta read it and get it back to her really soon. Anyway, there is a very interesting bit about bridges that I did read, and there are pictures of 3 of the old bridges. I wanted to type it all here and photograph the photographs to share with you, but just don't have the time right now. I have to get around the world to visit BRIDGING THE GAP participants and reply to the comments you have all left me in the last few days. I wish they'd left the old bridge up to use as a pedestrian bridge, though it was no longer keeping up to the growth in traffic and weight of trucks and such.

I took these in September 2005, when at a Music In The Park afternoon. Beautiful day for it. I sat there with my spinning wheel, spinning while listening, then took some photos.

Happy Friday!!

By the way.... if you have left me a comment on my BRIDGING THE GAP posts, you can now go read the replies I've left. I got a bit behind there, but am now caught up. Now, to get over and visit the rest of the posts other participants have made.

This is set to auto post at midnight my time.

Gattina - Yes, it is actually very beautiful there... and there's a nice long walkway built along the river, paved to make it easier for people to walk, or use wheelchairs and such. It's called The River Walk... fancy that, haha.

Minkydo - Thanks. Yes, it is serene and beautiful there. A great place to walk or just sit and relax.

Thank you so much for bringing my attention to the fact I'd forgotten Mr. Linky. And I was so proud of myself that I'd gotten the post done early... sheeesh!! Haha.

Five bridges in the same place! They need to learn to build more permanent structures!

Sorry, Alice, that bridge you asked about is the Throgs Neck Bridge that crosses the East River between Queens and the Bronx. Same as the Whitestone Bridge. :)

What is this with me today?
I thought I had already left a comment this morning? I can't seem to find it anymore though? Must have forgotten, I think!
It must be me, I forgot to link in again too! The Mr Linky was not up yet this morning for todays post?
Oh never mind! You've got some lovely sunny pictures here, Alice!
