Bridging The Gap - Day 1

Hello, and welcome to day 1 of my first Photo Challenge.

This Photo Challenge is BRIDGING THE GAP. The idea is to post photos you’ve taken, or you are in, showing a bridge. Tell us something about the bridge, and/or what was happening when you took the photo. Of course, link back here, and leave a message, so we can all come have a look at what you've left for us.

This photo is one I particularly like because you can't see where it's leading you to. I'm tempted to write a story about where it leads, and maybe will do so one day... but not today, haha.
I took it at Sandan, BC on October 2nd, 2006. Mom & I were on a really fast 1 1/2 day trip to the Kootenays, so we went off the highway to get to Sandon, just for a look. I took lots of great shots of the old buildings, most built in the late 1800s, some the early 1900s, before Sandon became a ghost town. All the photos I took were from behind the wheel with Mom saying "We don't have time...". Ha ha.

I look forward to seeing your photos of bridges, and hearing your story behind them.

This looks like a great walking bridge. Someday you'll have to go back and cross it.

Yes, Quilly, I think you're right about that. It's a ways off the highway, down a 'back road', but definitely 'doable'... all I need is gas, haha. I plan to go back to the Kootenays as soon as I can manage it, and will very possibly make this side trip and go for a walk. Maybe that trip will be during 'tourist season' when the ghost town is open to visitors.

I would certainly go over that bridge... but I might take a friend with me! :) Woods are NOT my favorite place... unless they are MY woods!

A ghost town?
I never heard of that town before, but it must be fascinating! Lovely picture of the bridge by the way!

What a lovely little bridge, looks like a Impressionist painting !
Your "bridge" idea is very good and I would love to participate, but I don't have ONE single picture of a bridge, not even in my archives ! There is no bridge around here at all ! At least I can't think of any ! If ever I find a bridge I will let you know, lol !

I will star tomorrow as today is already done. I don't know if I have six bridges but I might.

That looks like some of the small bridges I've walked across when hiking. Great idea for a challenge and I'll participate as much as I have time for. I'll come back and sign the linky after I get a bridge post up. I'll definitely do one today when I do my weekend snapshot post.

I'm back again. After a quick look at my photographs I spotted enough bridge shots for months. Same thing happened for me with reflections. So I went ahead and put up day one and it looks like I'll be playing on this one too. Great idea for a challenge.

I love this little bridge and the possibilities beyond it. Lovely.

Thanks for the invite to join the challenge. I have some bridges I'd love to share so I'll try fitting some in this week.

Hi Alice,
I decided to join in the fun with bridges your hosting. I love this little foot bridge you posted. It makes me want to walk to it and over it to see what I could see.

Melli - Reba wants me to ask you if you'd like her to go for that walk with you. She says she's your friend, and she most definitely likes to go for walks. Hey, if you ever go there to walk on it, let me know... I'll come along too, and bring Reba (after all, she does need a ride there, haha)

Jientje - I'm glad you like the bridge. Yes, a long since abandoned mining town. Google Sandon, BC Canada if you are interested in reading about the town. Maybe I'll post some more photos I took while there... if I can fit it in tonight, haha.

Gattina - we'll miss you in this challenge. I hope you come across some 'bridge' ideas and photos.

Dr. John - I'm glad you'll be jumping in with us. This whole time zone thing is a trick sometimes, isn't it, haha.

Carver - so, shall I extend this one week challenge to a month long challenge? Haha. Welcome aboard. I look forward to seeing your bridges this week. Maybe you can loan some to Gattina and Quilly, haha. Of course, then they'd have to Photo Shop themselves onto the bridges since they didn't take the pics. LOL.

Mar - well, I'm glad you 'got caught' in time, haha. This Photo Challenge this is addictive isn't it. Photography and blogging together... over powering, lol.

Carletta - glad you like the bridge, and the possibilities. It's fun to be able to feel like crawling/walking right into a photo, and an honor to hear that someone feels they'd like to do that with one of mine. Feel free to jump right in whenever you can.

Juliana - thanks for the great compliment on my bridge... and thanks for posting one of yours for us to enjoy. You may be surprised and find you can play the whole 7 days, if not, that's fine, just do what you can.

Shelly - I'm glad you like the idea! Hope you can find some bridges and join in with Bridging The Gap.

Ellen - Thanks much for your wonderful compliment on my photo. I'm glad you decided to join in the fun. The more the merrier!

I've been to see all the photos posted today... or at least I'm really really sure I got to all and hope profusely that I didn't miss any. I've totally enjoyed traveling to all your blogs and looking at your photos. I see this as a great way to get to know each other better, so lets have fun BRIDGING THE GAP!

Hi,
If I may, I would like to submit 2 of my Bridge images. They are both High Dynamic Range images, one of the Manhattan Bridge and one of the Brooklyn Bridge. I hope you will accept my submission as well as enjoy the images.
Best,
Louis

I don't usually leave more than 3 comments on various blogs at one time as people start assuming those to be comment spam but I had to leave this comment here. The image is awesome. Soo beautiful..

thanks
