Shadow - frozen ground
I went outside this evening to start digging Shadow's grave. Over the years I've let this place get terribly over grown due to back pain and depression, so there's a lot of work to be done just to clear off the Pet Cemetery. Tonight I was able to at least do enough to find the rock that marks Smoothedge's grave. She was Shadow's birth mother, and my dear pet that I picked out of the litter when she was less than 24 hours old. When Shadow was about 6 months old, Smoothedge was hit on the highway. She was the first to go into the Pet Cemetery, but unfortunately not the last. All 3 critters (1 cat and 2 dogs) that are there so far are there because of the highway and the crappy drivers around here. Anyway, I discovered that the ground in the flower bed along the north side of the driveway is soft and easily dug, but that's not where I want to bury Shadow. I want him in the Pet Cemetery with Smoothedge, D-O-G and Bronx. The ground is still totally frozen and snow still on the ground in the Pet Cemetery, so I guess I'm going to have to keep Shadow in the freezer for a few weeks until I can dig that part of the yard.
