Eggstra, Eggstra,
read all about it!!!
read all about it!!!
Today, Morgen (a.k.a. Mo) at It's A Blog Eat Blog World, has given us the word EGG to toss around and play with for his Manic Monday Meme.
With this being Easter Monday, I think that egg is a most eggcellent word for Manic Monday. When I think of the word egg, there are 3 things that come to my mind.
1- I used to have chickens, up until last fall, so only a few short months ago. I miss my chookies, and I miss the nice fresh eggs they gave me each day. Well, they hadn't given me any for a couple months when I gave them to a new home, but they had given me lots before that. Not only did I get 'off white' or 'tan' eggs but I also got 'brown' eggs and yes, even green eggs (and that is no eggstrodinary tale I'm telling, the shells really were green and blue-green, because of the breed of the chickens). Inside the shell, all eggs are created equal. One color shell does not make the eggs any better or worse than any other color shell, though many people believe they do. I always loved the chicks that were hatched out of those eggs each year. They were such cute little eggheads.
2- At a family reunion almost 8 years ago now, we played an eggstreamly fun game of catch. There were teams of 2 lined up along the lawn, so 2 rows of around 10 people each row. The people were facing each other and to start were only 2 or 3 feet apart. The first one gently tossed a raw egg to his/her partner who caught the egg, then everyone took a step backwards and the eggs again were gently tossed to the partner. As this went on, the distance the egg had to fly increased, the strength of the toss increased, and some of the eggs hit the ground and broke while others exploded in the hands of the catcher. By the time the game ended, the throwers and catchers were somewhere around 20 feet apart, and most teams had been disqualified as their eggs had broken. It really was fun to watch those eggseptional 'athletes' throwing their eggs such an eggcessive distance... and some people with 'egg on their face' and other parts of the body. (This tale is true, and not eggagerated.)
3- And, of course, the other thing that comes to mind is the Easter Egg, and all the deviled eggs and egg salad sandwiches, etc., that people with small children will be eating this coming week to use up the eggs they decorated for the children's Easter Egg Hunt. (I'll bet the winner was little Eggburt.) Myself, I much prefer Chocolate Easter Eggs, though I love anything chocolate. I've even threatened to eat some Chocolate Labs up at the dog park.
So, boys and girls... that's my eggstreamly silly story of eggceptional proportions. I think I've used egg eggcessively, so now it is likely an eggcellent time for me to sign off and go to bed.
Happy Easter Monday to all
Happy Manic Monday too.

I love to eat an Easter egg ! Even bought some colored once ! When our son was a child I colored them myself but now I am too lazy for that. I had some adventure with eggs this year !
Eggcellent post! Happy MM!
Very eggy post!
I miss chickens. I used to have them and miss the rooster the most.
I have played the eggstreamly egg catch game once in my life... at the Playa Dorada beach on a vacation. Right after the last egg broke on my head I decided it´s great to have the ocean just a few steps behind me... *g*
... and to never ever play that game again, being the awful catcher I am.
Happy Manic Easter Monday!
good one! thanks..
smiles, bee
Happy MM! The idea of owning chickens is wild to me because of my pure city-boy experiences...
As usual, my response this week to the MM meme takes Mo's word to a different place that is unique to the African American culture.

How fun. I love eggs and fresh eggs are even better. I've also played the egg tossing game and it's tons of fun. Very well done. Have a great MM. :)
