Love yourself
"If you had a friend who talked to you like you sometimes talk to yourself, would you continue to hang around with that person?"
-- Rob Bremer --
Thanks to the power of our inner critics, most of us have a very poor opinion of ourselves. Yet self-contempt merely keeps us miserable and stuck in our mediocrity.
If we were to make only one change to transform the quality of our lives, we might try sending a little love our own way.
"A critic is a legless man who teaches running."
-- Channing Pollock --
"Unkind criticism is never part of a meaningful critique of you. Its purpose is not to teach or to help, its purpose is to punish."
-- Barbara Sher --
"You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection."
-- Buddha --

I am a firm believer that loving your self is vitally important. When you love yourself you find happiness where you never knew it existed. You no longer need a 'mate' (man or woman) in your life to give you the love you so desperately need, you can give that to yourself. I'm not saying you won't still want one, or choose to have someone in your life, what I am saying is that is will be a choice, not a move of desperation. Also, when you love yourself, you attract to you a mate that loves him/her self. Two healthy people form a healthy relationship/marriage. Two lost, lonely, desperate people form an unhealthy and unhappy relationship. A lost, lonely, desperate person grabbing a hold of and hanging on to a relationship out of that desperate need to feel loved is opening themselves up to abuse... and they will never find a true love, only what they will call love for fear of being alone again. How do I know? Been there, done that. I now have a very happy life living on my own. I am content and fulfilled in so many ways. I am now feeling ready to attract a man into my life, knowing he will also be content and fulfilled in his own life and will come to me because he chooses to out of true love, not out of need or loss or desperation. After many unhealthy relationships I know I will now attract in to my life a healthy man and a healthy relationship. Oh, I know we will have our times of disagreement, that's only natural, and I know we will work through it in a healthy and loving way. Why? because I love myself now!!

I don't know if I am abnormal, but none of the quotes fit on me, lol !
Those are all incredible and inspiring quotes. They actually remind of the book, the Secret, which promotes loving oneself first.
The authors of the Secret say, love yourself first and others will follow.
