For over 17 years now, I've lived in a mobile home with additions on it. Nothing fancy, but it's safe and comfortable, it's a good home that fits my budget and my needs, and it's about 12oo square feet. This is actually a lot of home for one person, and yet it's full to the brim with 'stuff'. A lot of the 'stuff' has got to go, I'm tired of having my home so full and cluttered.
I've noticed over the years that several people look down their noses at me because I live in a 'trailer'... they act as if I'm 'trailer trash', and the most funny part of this is that the person who did this the most, while she did live in a 'real house' was renting. She didn't own the house, and it was not one of those luxury homes that we see popping up all over the place now days.
I've also been told different times that if I sell this place whoever buys it will just bulldoze the 'trailer' and additions to build a house here. This feels to me like they're saying my home is not good enough, and maybe I'm not good enough. I find it sad that people judge like this. Yes, maybe the next person to own this place really will just want the property to build a fancy home on, and maybe they won't, but either way I don't 'get' the whole need to judge each other based on what kind of home we live in.
