Geocaching

A few years ago someone was telling me about a 'game' called geocaching. Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "treasure," usually toys or trinkets of little value. Today, well over 440,000 geocaches are registered on various websites devoted to the sport. Geocaches are currently placed in 222 countries around the world and on all seven continents, including Antarctica.

I think this sounds like a lot of fun, and it reminds me of the scavenger hunts my family played a few times in the long ago past. We would form teams and head out to find the things our eldest sister, Anne, had listed for us. Some of these things were actual items, and some were answers to questions. What a 'hoot'! I would love to try geocaching, and will one day. Have you heard of it? Have you played the game?
