The words "termite infestation" are enough to strike terror into the hearts of even the toughest among us. Termites are social insects that live in colonies where different functions are performed by separate castes; their societies are one of nature's most impressive biological organizations. Although termites play a valuable ecological role in promoting the decomposition of plant material and recycling nutrients, some colonies can damage buildings, poles, fences and other human constructs. There are about 2000 species of termites in seven families world wide; most are tropical. There are 3 or 4 kinds of termite in British Columbia.
If you would like to know basic information about termites; how to do a termite inspection yourself; different ways you can try to prevent termites from infesting your home (some natural and non-chemical); or how to kill termites, check out Termites Guide.
