Manic Monday - Heat

Just another
MANIC MONDAY

Mo over at It's a Blog Eat Blog World started this up and he picks a word every week, posting it on his blog on Fridays, for people to blog about on the following Monday. The word he picked this week is Heat!

Summer's Heat

When from the sun's rays I cower,
Grueling weeks of the summer's heat,
A day without a cool shower
Is a day that's not quite complete.

It just makes no sense to me,
To spend time on a hot, busy street.
Look for me beneath a shady tree,
During the Okanagan's summer heat.

You'd think fat would melt from my body,
I'd be tiny, skinny, petite.
And yet, that has not happened,
Even in the blast of a long summer's heat.

In cool months I am more upbeat
I oft love to play the clown.
While in the swelter of summer's heat
I spend more time just lying around.

Would that I could find a way,
This silly problem for me to beat.
I wonder, will ever come the day
I can handle the high summer heat?

That's awesome -- I'm humbled that my one word "heat" inspired this creation!
I, too, wonder why the fat just doesn't melt away...
and yesterday I took a nap in the heat of the day, instead of mowing the lawn (telling myself I'd go out at dusk, but yeah, THAT didn't happen either....)
cheers,
mo

What a great poem! :)

I just love poetry as an art form, to say so much with just a few words is just amazing!

Happy MM!
