My Saturday...

Two days ago the Winter Carnival started and will run until Feb. 11, I believe it is. It starts out with competitions for the hot air balloons. That night is Balloon Glow where the big hot air balloon pilots light up their balloons and make them "glow" in the dark while tied down where people can watch.

Today was the big parade. I forgot about it until I had to drive the neighbor into town again, and by then it was over. However, someone special came to town for the event:

LOL, yup, the Blues Brothers! Well okay, not the real Blues Brothers, but ... Then tonight, what happens to be on CMT (Country Music Television)? The movie "The Blues Brothers 2000". So I had to watch that... so much for plans to go to bed early, haha.

One of the events of the Winter Carnival that I enjoy is Snow Carving. Of course, the Ice Sculptures are pretty cool too, but I like the Snow Carving. Maybe that's because my older brother is part of that, so Mom and I go up on the day of the judging. The teams (3 people per team) are each given a huge block of packed snow to carve and I'm not sure how many hours to do it, but I think it's about 2 days, then on the Sunday all of it is judged. The winners go to Quebec the following year to carve there in the Canadian Championships. The last several times my brother's team has competed there (at the ski hill) they have won, though they've never won in Quebec. So this year they are competing here again. I'll be going up there with Mom again and will take pictures so I can "report" to you about it. There are some pretty fantastic carvings at this competition.

One of my old friends now lives in the Okanagan Valley. I was in her wedding out there and it`s a beautiful place! The mountains are amazing and things are so much more laid back. My Mum has a pet chinchilla :) She`s a cutey.

Hi Tea. Thanks for coming to visit, and leave a comment (a gift to me). That's cool that you've been to the Okanagan Valley, and now I'm curious as to where your friend lives... haha. Yes, it is beautiful here for sure, and this past fall I had a quick trip to the Kootenays and it is so beautiful over there too. I really loved it.

It's neat that your Mum has a chin too. Daisy and Cheri were given to me when 3 or more years old and I don't think they'd been handled much as they don't really like being held. Daisy likes to be rubbed around her head/neck/behind the ears so long as you don't try to pick her up, but Cheri doesn't even want to be touched. They sure are beautiful though and I wish they were more friendly. Very messy animals too.

Okay... I've been to Okanagan Falls many times. It is very beautiful there. A couple times a year I go to Oliver (about 15 minutes south of OK Falls) to visit a friend, so I go through there on the way. Sad that you've lost touch, though that does often happen, or so I've found. :o)
