Quote of the Day, & some thoughts about it.

"Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies."

- Nelson Mandela, Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize

I really like this quote, and I feel that it is 'bang on'. It is so important to forgive... not for 'their' sake, but for ours. To hold on to unforgiveness only hurts the one that is holding on to that anger/hate/resentment. It never hurts that other person!! So, forgive that other person/persons, and set yourself free!!

Yes! Oh how I hated my ex-husband and oh how I wanted him to comprehend and pay for all of his neglect and creulty ... and pastor said, "Forgive. Let go." I stomped around madder than ever. Forgive! You've got to be kidding!

Then one night as I sat arguing with God about forgiveness, I said, "Why bother to forgive him, he wouldn't even know! For that matter, he has no clue how horribly he treated me and no idea I am still upset." And the answer returned, "Exactly. Your hate is not affecting him in the least, but it is eating you up. Let it go."

So, for ten years after I left my marriage and no longer had to suffer my ex's drunken anger and unpaid bills, or face people he had cheated and lied to -- I kept myself living in that place. He didn't. He'd already gone through a half-dozen girl friends at that point.

And as soon as I let it go, sunshine filled my life and I have lived in it ever since!

My favorite along this same theme is:

The best revenge is a life well lived. I have never found who originally said it this way, but it has always helped me move on.

I thank you for the award you gave me a few days back and I will be accepting. I'm just a little behind on things lately.
