I Am Grateful

It's been a few days since I wrote. I've been very tired and just not up to writing, so slept a lot instead. So here's what's been happening:

- I found out that I do not have Polymyalgia as the Dr. thought, so this is good news. So what was all that excruciating pain about? He's not worried about that right now, so guess I'm really lucky the pain has passed. Now I only hurt as bad as I did before the flair up. I did hurt for several months, but nothing I couldn't live with. I thought it was the Fibromyalgia (FM) until it got so bad. Now I guess that likely was what it was. I was diagnosed with FM after a Motor Vehicle Crash January 28, 1983... 26 years ago. At one time the pain was unbarable and I was on heavy pain meds for a long time, then with time (as the years passed) it got better... a lot better. I guess this was some kind of nasty flash back, haha.

- So, why is he not worried about the cause of the pain? Because he's focusing on something else. He says I am now a Type 2 diabetic. I don't have to take meds, but can manage it with diet and exercise. That is all okay, what bothers me most is that he said I am at HIGH risk for heart disease in the next 10 years. It's bad enough I won't be able to drink Coke, eat stuff I love like ice cream, cake, chocolate etc etc, but this is startling. However, I have decided that there is no way I am going to take any of this as written in stone, or even as bad news. Hey, I've been wanting to loose weight for awhile now, and now I have the motivation to do so. If I want to stay healthy, and I do, I have to make big changes in my life and those changes will have the added bonus of me loosing weight and getting healthier. As Mom has sometimes said "This could be a blessing in disguise."

- Three weeks ago I joined TOPS, as those of you that read here much will know already. Evey week, you are weighed, and the week after I joined I had lost 1.25 pounds. The next week, last Thursday, I was unable to go due to the pain I was in. Today I went and I lost an additional 2.5 pounds for a total so far of 3.75 pounds lost. I am very happy about this. PatW, my friend from TOPS and Toastmasters, loaned me 2 books today: the g.i. diet & the g.i. diet clinic... both by Rick Gallop. They are about the Glycemic Index and how foods affect your blood sugar. This is very good stuff to read.

- I got a call from Reba's vet today. I was out so she left a message on my answering machine. Since she is away at the coast just now, I thought it very good of her to call long distance to let me know what she's found from the x-rays. I will let Reba tell you about it though.

- The morning was spent at TOPS, then I came home and got the message from Reba's doctor. I wanted to meditate before having to drive to town and pick up her new medications, so sat down here to do just that and zzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzzz lost about an hour of my day. Upon awakening I went to the vet, then to the Centre for Spiritual Living to do the program for Sunday morning. I also updated Membership list, printed off some new folders for the programs, did up a Birthday List for February & hung it on the wall, also a couple posters reminding people of the upcoming AGM. I also printed off 40 new membership applications which I brought home with me to fold at my liesure, they are in brochure form, so need 2 folds each.

- Had to break down and put gas in the truck, or push it home, so did that, then was happy to head home where I ate a chicken sandwich with a cup of tea, and enjoyed the last half of Ugly Betty, then Grey's Anatomy & Private Practice. I taped ER to watch later.

- I helped Reba work on her blog, now I'm doing my blogging. As soon as I finish my posts I will feed & care for my 'family', give Reba her meds, and be off to bed to do a bit of reading and a lot of sleeping.

I hope all is well with each of you. I hope to soon visit all my blog friends.

- I am grateful Reba is now on the right meds to hopefully return her to good health.
- I am grateful I am a strong and healthy woman (always keep positive)
- I am grateful I can see the bright side of things that could crush many others
- I am grateful I have lost some weight
- I am grateful Pat loaned me these books to read and better understand some of the changes I will be making in my life
- I am grateful to have a life full of Quality
- I am grateful Reba is going to live now
- I am grateful for the great chicken sandwich I ate tonight, and for the other food I ate today too
- I am grateful for the kindness and support I've gotten at Reba's vet office
- I am grateful for the kindness and support I get at TOPS meetings
