Christmas Eve

Twas the day before Christmas
And all round the house
Not a creature was stirring
Wait a minute.... that's a lie in this house. Haha. The rabbit and chinchillas are still waiting to be fed and every time I move, Reba has to follow me. Earlier this eve, DW (parrot) was making ugly noises and I was busy so got irritated. Was about to make her go inside her cage and cover it up to shut her up. Then got talking to her and she got onto my shoulder. I then realized she was making the noise cuz she wanted my attention. I was in the middle of baking at the time, but she sat back on my shoulder and was great company while I worked.

Okay... the plumber came in the morning while I was talking on the phone to a dear friend, Tjana, who called to wish me a Merry Christmas. He fixed my water line and I was surprised when he showed me the break in the line. It was in a T, and it was not from freezing. My water was not frozen as I thought, but there was a little round hole there from wear/age. He only charged me $138.60, and told me that my brother had begged for me. That made my day. I phoned brother Terry & told him it was done, then called Mom to tell her too, so they could stop worrying.

I went to town and got food for the rabbit and chinchillas, straightened out a problem Mom had with her new cell phone, picked up my prescriptions, filled the gas tank on my truck, and tried to pick up a package I've been waiting for. I got a notice in my mailbox that this package had arrived and I can pick it up tomorrow... which of course isn't until Monday, sheeeeesh. I went to the postal outlet where I have to pick up stuff like that, but it wasn't there. It has to come through from the main postoffice and they were already closed. Closed early today. Good thing it's not a Christmas gift.

After that, I went to the dog park to walk Reba. Just as I drove into the parking lot, my cell started ringing, & was my friend Bev. She wanted to meet with me, and would be in town in 45 minutes, so okay. That gave me some time at the dog park. Ran into a friend from my former Toastmasters club, Karen, which was really nice. We walked our dogs together and had a short but nice visit.

I got to the Centre just as Bev arrived there, which is where we'd agreed to meet. She had a gift for me which I totally had not expected. When she saw it in the store she thought of me and couldn't resist it. Gotta love 'weak' friends that can't resist something like that kind of temptation, haha. Anyway, it's a really cute ornament of a Rottweiler wearing a scarf and hat... a Christmas Rotti. Too cool!!

At home this evening I talked to Dan on MSN, and I phoned my dear, long time friend Judy who lives out in Nova Scotia. At one time, very nearly 30 years ago, she was living in Smithers, BC, had moved there with her boyfriend Steve. That summer I went to Smithers, where I had spent the first 12 years of my life, to visit friends and relatives. While there I met and started dating Mark. He took me to meet his brother and his lady... yup, that's how I met Judy and Steve. I didn't date Mark for a terribly long time. Judy and Steve didn't last either. However, Judy and I have. All these years later we are still very close friends, even tho we haven't seen each other for over 20 years. She ended up moving back out to Nova Scotia, where she had come from... and neither of us have had the money to make the cross country trip to visit. We talked tonight for an hour and a half, and still had loads more to say. Now that I have MagicJack, and have upgraded to high speed internet, I can phone through my computer, so will be calling her a whole lot more than before. After all, I can call anywhere in North America for free.

I texted with Wendy. I got a phone call from the guy that lives in my yard in his holiday trailer, he called to ask a question about internet, and we ended up chatting awhile. I talked to my hairdresser, Harold, on MSN for a fairly long time, then on the phone for longer. During all this time I managed to bake a loaf of Classic Cranberry Nut Bread, a loaf of Cranberry Banana Nut Loaf, and a batch of Cracker Toffee.

Now all the animals are fed and I must go to bed... but haven't yet finished wrapping gifts. I know I do better at night than in the morning, so want to get it done before bed, though I have to be up in only a few short hours. Darn. I hate getting up.... and I hate going to bed.

Wishing you all a wonderful day!!!
