Opening Doors

Jientje at Heaven In Belgium is hosting a photo challenge this week, Monday to Saturday. It's "Opening Doors". Why don't you take a moment to pop on over and check it out.

This community hall is approximately a half hours drive from the town my Mom lives in, the town I lived in for many years. It's way out into the country... and close to Mable Lake where my sister has a summer cabin. I took these photos the other night, on the way to my Mom's 85th birthday dinner. With Mom waiting in the car, I didn't take a lot of time to frame the photo, I just snapped them all quickly, then back into the car. Some were even taken from behind the steering wheel, haha.

The door is open...

...and welcoming...

... to the guests of a wedding, it would appear.

If you look closely, you can see that the back door is also open.

A photo of the Kingfisher painting above the front door.

Just behind and to the right of the hall is the Kingfisher Elementary School. It now sits empty while the few children of the area are bussed to and from another community for their schooling. A sad sign of the times.

Think of all the little feet that ran through these doors over the years, of the fun the children had with their friends... hear the voices talking and laughing.... and wonder "What will become of this door? What will become of this building?"

Will it be torn down? Will it house something else?

Will this door ever be opened again? Or is it closed forever?

So far no decisions have been made, but I hope it's opened again for something. It's too sad to think of yet another old building being ripped down.

Happy Day 4 of "Opening Doors"

These are fun Alice. I love the Kingfisher above the door. I do see the open door at the back of the hall. My parents just turned 85 this year...

That's a wonderful community hall. I love the colors and how you see the back door from the front open door. Great choice for the opening doors theme.

I like the colors on this building. I so wonder what the front of the door looks like. :)
That kingfisher pic is gorgeous - someone was very talented.

School doors - makes me sad for my classroom kids.

September is such a perfect time to feature school doors! It is sad when a school no longer holds laughing and learning children
