I offered some rabbit cages on Freecycle a bit ago, and had lots of replies of people wanting them. One of the replies was from Cyndi, a gal I met through Freecycle and have become friendly with. She has given me a lot of things, and I have given her a few too. So, I chose to give the cages to her so she can build an outside play area for Mikko, her ferret. He'll have so much fun in it, lol. Anyway, so today Cyndi finally made it out to get the cages, and brought her friend Ella with her. i made them a pot of coffee and myself some tea, and we took it outside to enjoy in the nice spring weather.
While we were out there, Cyndi asked why I had a barbecue sitting down my the road. I told her I was hoping someone would steal it. It's actually been down there for quiet some time, last fall in fact, though it fell down and was covered in snow over winter and I stood it back up again a few weeks ago. I told the gals that my sister and mother had also asked that question (when they picked me up to go for Easter dinner at a local restaurant), and Anne had said "put a sign $50 on it and someone will be sure to steal it then." Well, not 10 minutes after telling this to the gals today, a fellow comes along in a mini van and drives up my driveway. He asks why I have a barbecue sitting down there, so I told him I was hoping someone would steal it. He wanted it, so I gave it to him along with another non-working one I had here. Bonus!!! I'd gotten them both off Freecycle last year. In both cases, the people assured me it worked, but they had gotten a new, bigger one because their family had grown... and in both cases the darn thing didn't work at all. I'm really glad to be rid of those.
Later, when Dan came over, not only did he bring me the incredible chocolate bar, but while he was here we did some more work in my yard. We moved me antique 'garbage burner' stove and the table I have out there, then where they had been we put my utility trailer so it is in a better spot for putting garbage into. Then I cut down some of the burdocks that are in my yard from last year, and through them into the trailer.
So slowly but surly the yard is getting to look better. When Cyndi was here, she commented on all the work that's been done in the yard and how much better it's looking since she was last here.
