A couple years ago I built a chicken run up on the hill behind my home, then just before it was finished, I realized that the hawks were taking some of my chickens. I realized that if this was happening with the chickens down in the yard, then to put them up on the hill was as good as feeding them to the hawks, so I left that nice big run vacant. I now have decided how I'm going to use it.
When Reba, now 9 years old, was just a wee pup, I built a 'run' for her. It's nothing fancy, but is a fence that has kept her safe all these years. It keeps her from wandering off and getting killed on the highway like other wonderful pets I've had have done.
I am going to finish off the chicken run on the hill and make it so Reba can get up there, then I'll make the pen Reba has now about half the size it is now. She'll have a lot more room up top anyways. I'll also remove the chicken run that is right beside Reba's run. This will make a lot more room on this level of the yard, and will make room for the travel trailer to be parked up here and used as my tack room. For more on that, scroll down just a post or two.
This also includes removing a bunch of burdocks. Yuck!

What a great idea! I'm sure Reba will appreciate the extra space, and the things she'll be able to see from the hill.
