Saturday, March 8

Here's another one I wrote ahead of time to post here when I could get here, lol.

_______________

This afternoon, I got in my truck and drove to the nearby town where my Mom lives. It was good to get out for a drive. I have always loved to just get in my vehicle and drive, but with the ever rising price of gas this has become a thing of the past for me. I really miss going for drives, but what can you do. I used to come visit Mom once or twice a week, now I only can about once a month.

Anyway, so Mom wanted to go to the next town over to walk on the wharf, and to eat dinner at our favourite restaurant. I drove her car and off we went. The lake that the wharf is on is frozen for quite a long way out, but it was still nice to walk. We had a really delicious dinner, each of us ordered the Four Cheese Chicken Lasagne and we split a Caesar Salad… it was great. Next we went to McDonalds for ice cream cones. Now, this is kind of funny as the restaurant has really wonderful deserts, but when you’re too full for one of them, an ice cream cone is lighter. Besides, Mom & I used to make regular trips over there just to go for a drive, and to get ice cream cones at McDonalds, so it became a “thing” with us, haha. Anyway, we’re in the drive through with no one behind us and Mom says something about if there was someone behind us, she’d buy them a coffee. Then a truck drives up behind us… a woman driving and balloons in the cab. We couldn’t tell for sure if anyone else was in there, but figure there were probably a couple kids there too. So, we buy our 2 small cones, and a medium coffee for the truck behind us, haha. I hope she likes coffee. It was fun to “Practice Random Kindness”. I recommend it.

Now, as I write this, I am sitting on Mom’s couch. We watched a movie on TV as we drank tea and ate some wonderfully tasty squares (with coconut) that she made. I’m on my laptop, but not connected to the internet as she doesn’t have wireless internet, so I’m writing things that I can post later on when I’m home. It’s been a much better afternoon than the last few days have been. I actually wish I didn’t have to go home again, yet I know I must. At least I got out today and will again tomorrow for church, and to visit a friend or two while in town.
