If you read my blog very often, you know that my beloved cat, Shadow, passed on less than a week ago. My 'little man' was a very important part of my life for the last 17 years, so is very missed. I tried to dig a grave for Shadow the day I brought his body home from the vet (in a box), but was unable to do so as where I wanted to put the grave was not only still frozen, but also still covered in snow. That was Thursday. On Monday, my friend Dan came over and, with the help of a pick, was able to dig through the frozen ground and get that grave ready. I had put my Shadow in the freezer (what choice did I have?) so got him out of there and put him into his grave. I added a good handful of his cat food, some salmon, and poured some milk over it all (all things he loved). I added a few tears too. I partially covered him with dirt, then let Dan finish it off for me. He said he thinks it will settle and when it does he'll come back and rake more dirt over it to even it all out. Now... if you have a 'weak stomach' please skip to the next paragraph as I tell this horrible part. In my Pet Cemetery, there are rocks marking the grave of Smoothedge (Shadow's mother). I thought I had buried D-O-G to the right of Smoothedge, and Bronx to the right and a bit down from D-O-G, therefore, I had Dan dig to the left of the rocks. He came across bones. YIKES! so we covered them back up again and dug further to the left. The only thing I can think of is that I buried D-O-G to Smoothedge's left and Bronx to the right. I know I was in shock and grief when I buried each of them, so guess I wasn't too 'together' at the time. I had planned to put markers for them, like I did for Smoothedge, but it just never happened. Now I will be sure to find more rocks for this purpose, or possibly make a concrete pad there to cover all the graves, and write names and dates where they need to be. I'm grateful to Dan for doing all the work and for helping me to bury my boy. He even 'tuffed up' and handled me being somewhat emotional.
I usually go to Toastmasters on Monday evenings, but this week I couldn't. I had to cancel due to a Board Meeting I had to attend. This is the first one we've had on a Monday evening in a very long time, but with the Centre being so busy these days, we couldn't do it any other time, and we had to have one before our AGM on the 30th. So.... my evening was spent at a board meeting. We couldn't hold it at the Centre as Monday evenings are booked there too, so we had it at Rev. Dale & Hannah's home. Rev. Sheila couldn't make it, but did join in through the phone. Bev just had a knee replaced last week, so is home recovering from that. Bev is our secretary, and always takes the minutes of the meeting, so this time it was a good thing I took my laptop along. I type faster than I write, so stepped in and typed the minutes, then when I got home I 'tweeked' them a lot due to having to 'short cut' as much as possible during the meeting.
Today, Tuesday, I went to town to Song Rehearsal with Hannah as I do most Tuesday afternoons. I always enjoy these times. After this I ran a couple errands, one was to the Health Food Store where I got some Rescue Remedy, Vitamin E liquid, and tofu. I watched Hannah make a tofu, brown rice, veggie dish that she's given me bits of to eat before. It's tasty. Now I am going to attempt to make some myself. I'm not used to using tofu, or eating it either for that matter, but am 'open to change'. Next I went to Tim Horton's and sat there drinking tea and doing my homework for the Science Of Mind class I take on Tuesday evenings. I really would like to get this work done earlier in the week without the last minute 'intensive', but hey.... haha. I had a sandwich for dinner there, then went and let Reba out of the truck for awhile (good dog).... and off to class for the evening.
After class, as I was driving home, I notice that all the gas stations have put up their prices again. There was one that hadn't gotten it done yet, so I went and topped up my tank. Less than a week ago it jumped from $115.4 per liter (I think that's right... hmmm) to $118.9 and now to $122.9 per liter. There are 4.5 liters to an Imperial gallon ... or 4 liters to a US gallon, so if you want to compare, do the math for where you live.
When I got home, it was nice to just relax with my laptop in front of the TV. About 11pm, Don (my tenant) came to visit, as he often does at that hour. Sometimes, if I really don't want company, I will turn off the lights and TV in the living room and go to the bedroom to watch TV, do computer work, read, whatever I want to do. This was more fun when I had Shadow sharing my bed with me... sigh.
Dierks Bentley is on the Craig Ferguson Show now. I love his singing... and he's cute too, haha.
Well, boys and girls, it's time for me to go feed the rabbit, the 3 budgie birds, the 5 chinchillas as well as let Reba out for a pee and when she comes back in, give her a bedtime treat... brush my teeth, pee, and go to bed. (TMI?) hehe.
Have an awesome day!!

Our pet graveyard is under a wheeping willow in our garden and also gets crowded over the years. It's always sad to loose an animal but in some way they are all with us when we are sitting outside.
A concrete slab sounds like a wonderful idea. I'm so glad you were able to lay him to rest sooner rather than waiting into spring.
