Recently, I was talking to Dan and I told him that I want to go on a date. A 'real' date. Not where I meet a friend for a meal at a restaurant, but a real date. Where the man comes out and picks me up and takes me out for dinner, or whatever. Oh, I've been on a couple of 'dates' with Bob over the last few years, but he always said he only wants to be friends, so they, to me, were not really dates... even when he did pick me up here and pick up the tab at the restaurant. Anyway, when I told this to Dan he added something about the guy gives me flowers. I said that if the guy giving me flowers would make it a real date, then I've never been on a real date.
Awhile ago, in order to do a paid post I had to join an online dating site. I had planned to take me off it as soon as the add was done, as I have with others, but there was some kind of time limit we had to stay as members, and during that time I got lax and didn't bother taking me off there. So the other day a fellow contacted me through that site. Not the first time, so I didn't hold out much hope for it to go anywhere as the others have not gone past a few emails. This one actually went as far as a couple phone conversations that went surprisingly well... then today we agreed to meet for dinner. This is big for me as he is 62, 10 years older than me, and I don't usually go for older guys, or at least not that much older. I like younger men. But recently I was talking in a workshop about wanting to date, so I figured I'd better follow through by taking the opportunity presented to me for a date. Heck... if it doesn't turn out, it doesn't turn out, but at least I've gone and given it a try. I've been on some pretty bad dates before and lived to tell about them, so why not.
We agreed to meet this evening at 6:30pm, at the White Spot. We told each other what we drive, and when I drove in he was already there, waiting, and flashed his lights to let me know he'd seen me. I parked and got out as he got out of his vehicle. Guess what he was carrying!!! ROSES!! How cool is THAT!! Then I knew it was a 'real' date, haha. Okay, so he didn't come pick me up, to be fair I won't tell him yet where I live, but he is the first man I've ever gone out with that showed up with flowers. I'm impressed! As we went in, Moe opened both the doors for me. We had a very nice visit and a good meal until I had to leave to go get dog food for Reba before the store closed. We even held hands over the table for awhile before we left. He opened the doors on the way out too, and walked with his arm around me and gave me a kiss goodbye. We agreed we will talk again on the phone and go out again after his son is here visiting for the next week or so. He seems to be a very nice man, and a good start to me getting back into dating after many years out of that game. The only thing he 'blew it' on was that he didn't hold me coat for me when we were leaving, but to be fair, maybe I put it on before he would have had the chance. Next time I'll have to be sure to give him the opportunity to hold my coat. I wonder, if/when we go together somewhere in his vehicle, if he'll open/hold the car door for me. I hope so. I love that kind of treatment, it makes me feel cherished. Moe was dressed very nice, by the way, in a white shirt, tie with tie clip, and a black leather jacket. He's about 6 feet tall, dark skinned (from Fiji originally), brown eyes, and shaved bald. A fairly nice looking man who doesn't look 'old' like so many his age and younger do.
Now I'll tell you about the 'wee drop 'o weird'. When I got home and put the roses into a vase, there were only 11 roses. There were 12 stems, though one rose had been cut off its stem, leaving the stem in the bundle. I find this very odd. However, I still love the 11 pretty pink roses :o)
Now, for some words that pay, lol. I'd gladly throw out my living room furniture for this leather home theater seating, if only it would fit in my tiny room. They currently have a good sale on, and free shipping too.
