Those of you that come here often know that I love antiques, reading good books, art of many kinds. Well, if you don't know that, you do now, haha. Much of my furniture is older than I am, and much of my furniture is just old... sigh.
St. Augustine shopping, sounds like a lot of fun and after reading this website, I want to go there. On the last Saturday of every month, there is what could be called a 'shop-a-thon', where the San Marco Avenue antique district abounds with activity and enthusiasm as people enjoy the lively street music, the endless opportunities to shop for antiques and rare books, not to mention authentic Spanish treasure. If you would enjoy taking workshops about a variety of antique related topics, you will be interested to know that participating antique dealers offer these workshops during these monthly events. You also might enjoy the readings and book signings by local authors that are provided by the book stores, as well as art exhibit openings of some of the finest Florida artists, hosted by the art galleries in this area.
St. Augustine, Florida, USA, is that Nation’s Oldest City. Just a short walk from San Marco Avenue is Aviles Street, the oldest street in America. Along Aviles Street, between Ripley’s Museum and the Mission of Nombre de Dios, galleries, antique stores, and other businesses stay open during Uptown Saturday Night. Meet the artists, go to book signings and enjoy live music, refreshments and other events in the party-like atmosphere, which takes place from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm the last Saturday of the month. You've just missed the October 25th fun, but can still take part next month on November 24. I wish I could 'see you there'.
