Yesterday was a wonderful day. In church I was the presider, basically like an MC, reading announcements, introducing the speakers, singers and such. I also was, as every week, the song leader. It was, as always, a great service.
This was the second Sunday of July so, as on the second Sunday of every month, we had a Pot Luck Lunch. The difference this time is that, while we usually have it in the Centre, this time we had it outside, in Rev. Dale & Hannah's back yard. Lots of great food and wonderful people as well as the wonderful location on the bank of a very pretty creek. I took along a word game that everyone had fun playing, called Scattergories. I'll post it to the blog in a later post.
After the Pot Luck I had wanted to go to the gym and work out, but it was too late as they close at 4pm on Sundays, so I took Reba to the dog park for a walk. We usually like to go two or more times around, but this time only did once... it was just too hot to do more. We also spent some time in the trees by the creek that Reba likes to play in before we did the second half :o)
What did I take to the Pot Luck? Well, I had forgotten to plan and do something ahead of time, so after church I ran to 2 stores to get what I needed. I bought a bag of spinach, fresh strawberries, a red onion and some mushrooms at the one store, but had to go to another to get the dressing I wanted... Raspberry Vinegarette. If they'd had some bulk salted nuts I'd have gotten some of them too. At the house, I borrowed a big bowl and chopped up all but the spinach and tossed it with the dressing. OMG it sure was good! I've never made anything like this before, but at the 28th anniversary party at the gym they served a Strawberry Spinach Salad as one of the treats, so I just built on what might go well with those two basic items. It paid off. I made another one for a late supper last night. MMmmmmm.... gonna have to get more spinach and mushrooms.

Mmmmm - that salad sounds yummy! I make one very similar to that, but add either walnut pieces or slivered almonds - we all love it!
Your descriptions of the dog park almost makes me wish I had a dog.
