Computer Woes

WARNING: This is whining.

This computer is driving me crazy! I'm not the world's best or fastest typist, but I can, and do, type much faster than this computer shows the words typed. Every so often I have to stop typing and wait for the computer to catch up so I can see what I've done.

When I click on a tab or on a link to go to another site I have a very long wait for this old door stop to bring up what I am waiting for. I sit and watch TV while I wait for this pc to catch up to things I want to do. I'm feeling like I should have a book to read while I work on this thing.

The last several days there have been very few ops on PayPerPost, so this evening when I again refreshed my PPP ops page I was delighted to see 18 ops there that I was qualified to take, and most of them were still available, not reserved by anyone else. I quickly scrolled down and clicked on one op then waited for the page to come up...... and waited. Once it was up I clicked on the button to Take This Opportunity, only to have it tell me that all the ops for this one were already reserved. By the time I got back to the available ops page and clicked on another one, etc., it too was taken out from under me. Then almost all the ops were already gone. I was very fortunate to get one that I guess was a "least favorite" one as it was last to go.

I know that there were many bloggers out there waiting for an op, the same as I was, so when they came it was a frenzy of bloggers grabbing them up... and I know that if my computer was not so painfully slow I would have gotten one I tried for earlier, before it was gone.

I definitely spend way too much time on my computer, and I believe that if I had a new pc I could do my blogging and other "stuff" in half or maybe one third of the time it takes me now, so maybe I will actually get other stuff done too. Maybe... just maybe :o)

This evening on TV news they were saying that February and July are the best time to shop for furniture as that is when it's on sale, and that July and August, just before school goes back in, is the best time to buy a computer, it's when computers are on the best sales. I wanted to wait until I had a good chunk of money earned and saved with PPP before I bought my new pc, but I am now very seriously thinking of going into debt to get it some time this month. I am for sure going to be grabbing the local news paper to get the flyers from all the stores that sell computers. I want to see what is available and where I can get the best deal.

I empathise. Andy has deleted a ile that enables our "good" lap top to start! So I'm back to the old one with the disappearing mouse!!! Very fruastrating x x

Sorry to hear of your computer woes...could it be your internet connection speed?

Hope you get "up to speed" soon to make that PPP $$$.

Shaz - Step one: bite Andy! Step two: take good new pc to the "vet" and get that file back in. Step three: growl at Andy if he goes near the new pc again.

LOL. Seriously though, that must be VERY frustrating.

hafiz - thanks.

Crazy - thanks for the thought! Nope that's not the problem. I have cable which is a pretty fast connection, and this speed problem has not always been. As the pc gets older it also gets slower. I keep defraging and running spy ware detection... this has helped a tiny bit, but not enough. My techie says it's time for a reformat and for a new computer. He's a friend and keeps this old thing running for me for free, no money in it for him to try to get me buying something I don't need.

A while ago it needed a part my techie (Dan) didn't have, so I went to a guy in town that several people I know use, very reliable reputation. Simon says (haha) the motherboard is just about had it, get a new computer soon.

I think that once I have my new lap top all paid for I will buy a new tower for my desk top... have both kinds. This monitor, keyboard, etc is all good, just need the tower.

Buying my laptop was definitely a good investment. I agree that the increase speed and memory will help you be more productive. And if the goal is to make money with PPP, then you need to have the right tools to be effective.
