This week's Photo Hunter's theme is "rare", so I chose to use my Siam Jewelry as my contribution. Most of these pieces have SIAM STERLING stamped into the back of them. I keep my eye out for this type of jewelry, and it's been years since I've seen any. The pieces I have were purchased from antique dealers some years ago. The country Siam became Thailand June 24, 1939, then was again called Siam 1945 and May 11, 1949, according to Wikipedia. Here's another site to look at, if you're interested.
Not so many years ago, I met my cousin Vern and his family for the first time. His daughter Linda and I took one look at each other and WOW... not only had I decided to wear some of my Siam jewelry that day (which I rarely did/do, but it just seemed right that day), but so was Linda wearing hers!! What an incredible thing that we both collect this rare jewelry.
All the Siam Jewelry I've seen has been a very dark blue/black enamel (or something like enamel) on the sterling silver... all except one piece that is... and I have that one piece.
These photos aren't the best, not up to my usual standards, but I had a hard time getting my camera to focus close up and I wanted to show as much detail as possible, so in the end sacrificed some focusing for close ups.
Fan shaped broach and matching earrings, with heart shaped ring in upper right. One time when wearing the fan set I lost one earring. I felt so horrible about it... for all those years the set was kept together, then I loose a piece. About a week or so later, at the mail box I noticed something in the dirt, checked it out and there was my earring. They are screw on earrings, not pierced.

Another shot of the round broach. I love the way it's cut out on the one side so shows the material it's pinned to through the cut outs.
Bracelet. This was one of my first pieces of Siam jewelry... maybe the first, but I can't remember for sure now. I've had it for over 20 years.
There's the heart shaped ring in the top left again... and a close-up of the red bracelet. I wish I could have gotten a better view of the "dancers" on all the pieces for you, but if you click on the photos you will get a larger view so maybe can see a bit more. There is no way I could get the SIAM STERLING stamp in a clear photo. I think I will have to use a different camera if I want to get a good close-up shot like that.

Those stones are very beautiful! They are indeed rare. My eldest daughter (11) loves all kinds of stones and colored beads. She makes bracelets and necklaces out of them. She gives them away and sometimes, she sells them so she can have money to but beads again.
