Lately, I've been giving a lot of thought to things I could do to make my yard look better. One thing I was thinking was to get rid of most, if not all, of the wild roses that are growing out of control here. They really are beautiful for the while they are in bloom, but they have really gotten out of control... not that they ever were in control, mind you. So how do I get rid of them?First thing, I have to cut them down... but what to do with them once cut down? The big thorny branches are difficult and somewhat dangerous to handle. I could put them into my utility trailer and haul them to the dump, but they don't pack down well and would get all caught together into a big mass. This means I couldn't haul many at a time and they would be very difficult to unload. I can't burn them because here you have to have a certain number of acres of land to be permitted to burn yard waste. Sooo, I've been thinking about renting a chipper and chipping them all up. I was thinking I could use the chips as mulch in my yard and that would be a great way to "kill two birds with one stone". NOT. It dawned on me last night that this would not be the way to go, not a good idea to use them as mulch. Wild roses have a lot of rosehips and rosehips are full of seeds, so to chip the branches and use them as mulch would be to plant my yard full of more wild roses. I guess I could still chip the thorny things all up, shooting the chips into the utility trailer and off to the dump with a shovel for unloading all those chips. I would be totally open to any ideas/suggestions on how to get rid of these roses or rose chips.
All that thinking about all the work involved in cutting down the rose bushes and chipping them, then disposing of the chips has made me hungry! So what comes to mind to eat? Why, chips of course! Just think of it...
Appetizer: a bag of "All Dressed Potato Chips"
or maybe some Nacho Chips with salsa to dip them in ...
Main Course: Chicken and Chips (deep fried chicken and deep fried potatoes also know as "fries" or "French fies")
and pickle chips too...
Desert: Chocolate Chip Cookies...
or even better yet, Chocolate Bread Pudding (use chocolate chips in place of the raisins when baking this... mmmm).
Oh, what a lovely meal that would be... and oh so fattening! Maybe I'll just have some fresh fruit instead... although banana chips would be good too, hhhmmmm.
Now I just chipped a fingernail so am no longer feeling so chipper! I think I will sign off and go find a nail file to fix the chipped nail.
Then I could spend the day playing with poker chips
... or have a nap and dream about the boys from the old TV show, CHIPS
Or maybe I should just go clean my house.
Peace, Love and Joy to all!!

smiles, bee
what about chipped beef on toast?
Oh I never thought of 'chipping' a fingernail! Good one!
I have no advice about the roses - we have a wild bush in our backyard too - it grows so fast I swear I could WATCH it :-)
Great MM!
I really enjoyed this post.
I wish I could help you with how to dispose of the rose bushes. I thought it was a great idea to chip them all up - anyway to run them through the chipper and then into industrial strength trash bags? Then they'd be pretty easy to set out for the trash guys to haul away.
Gosh - I keep running into all these food posts! I'm hungry!
If I had to look up in my dictionary to find other meanings besides the potatoe chips, now I know ALL meanings ! I enlarged my vocabulary, lol ! For the roses I have no idea, I don't have a green thumb !
Excellent post! You've covered them all! Enjoyed it very much.
Hey, Bee - Good to see you. Thanks, I did get most anyway, haha.
RZDesign - Thanks for dropping in. You are so right, I missed Chipped Beef on Toast! And I see on your blog Chip the Teapot, another one I missed. Good catches. :o)
Kai - I chip my nails on a regular basis, so was easy to think of that one, haha. I once had just a small bush of wild roses in my yard, then I think the birds maybe helped with the seeding, then Mother Nature threw in her two bits worth too, and now it's a jungle out there! Yes, they do grow very fast, don't they.
Travis - good to see you... glad you enjoyed my post today! I never put things out for the trash guys, it's too expensive, so I take it to the dump myself :o) I wish someone would come by and help with the job, if you could see this yard you'd know what I mean, haha.
Gattina - thanks for coming by. Glad I could help expand your vocabulary, lol. I have a fairly green thumb inside, but my skills with plants don't seem to extend to the "out of doors"... sigh.
Steven - thank you for dropping by to check out my Manic Monday post. I am happy that you enjoyed it. Come again, I post on several "memes".
now you've got me thinking of more! chipped a tooth (which my son did) and chipped a bone (which I did!). Good luck with the rose bushes. :-)
A little late getting to you. Great post, delicious in fact.
