Life's Reflection
by Alice Price

Mirror, Mirror
On the wall,
I hardly recognize
Me at all.
The natural curl,
But what happened to
That sweet young girl?
And still don’t see
That young woman
I used to be.
She was pretty
She was slim,
She was bait
To reel in “him”.
Mirror, Mirror
Did she “play” too long?
Did she dance on past
The end of the song?
Will any man want her?
Now she’s long in the tooth?
Or is it too late?
She’s blown her youth!
I look in you, Mirror,
And what I see there
Is an over weight woman
With grey in her hair.
My life’s not played out
According to plan.
I’ve got no ranch,
Nor that "perfect man".
My body is failing,
My back does hurt
Quickly, remind me…
How does one flirt?
But Mirror, Mirror
On window sill,
Don’t count me out.
There’s life in me still!
I added one new verse to this poem Jan.9th. It is not unlike me to go back and change my poems a bit here and there when it is still new.
