Thank you to farmgirlcyn for pointing out that my big brown beauties (hens) might be Isa Browns. I did a Google search on the breed and did find some pictures that sure look a lot like my girls, and the descriptions of the chickenalities also sound like my girls, so it is very likely that this is what they are. At any rate, this is what they will now be called, Isa Browns. LOL
There were some other interesting things I found while looking for Isa Brown pictures and info. Like these poultry houses in Scotland. I'd love to build something like some of these (or have someone to build one or more for me, haha). As I said in a previous post, when I bought the one box of chicks (chooklettes, lol) at the auction in the spring, it was written on the box that they were Americana/Sex Link Layer cross, hatched Mar. 10, 6 in the box, unsexed. At that time I did look up Americana on the www and found enough info, but could find nothing on Sex Link Layers. Well, I did today by "accident" and found it interesting. Another site with lots of miscellaneous info on chooks is Burke's Backyard.
