Today I had a long day, preceded of course by a short night (aren't they usually?) I couldn't sleep last night so did not want to get up this morning, but after about 5 1/2 hours of sleep the phone rang. It was Dan. I had known he would call this morning and come over to help me get a load to the garbage dump. As much as I can I reuse, recycle, regift, feed to chickens, etc etc but eventually do have to take some stuff to the landfill, and today was the day. I was really amazed at the amount the woman charged me, so the weight of the load, as my trailer was not half full. It must have been pretty wet to weigh that much.
Speaking of wet, it half rained, half snowed most of the day, so was not the greatest time to take a load to the dump, or do any other outside chores. However, it was a good day for my hair... LOL. I have naturally curly hair, so it gets very curly when the weather is wet like this, especially when it gets wet with rain or snow.
I also went to town today to spend some time with my dear friend Brenda P. (Also have a friend Brenda B., so must differentiate... haha), and to meet with Rev. Dale to get a letter written that we needed to work on together. Having all this and some other things done, alone in the church, I went to leave and couldn't find my keys. I looked high and low to no avail. I even looked in desk drawers I hadn't opened, and in the bathroom I hadn't been in, and no keys anywhere. I emptied out my coat pockets, felt in my sweater and pants pockets, and no keys. I went out and looked into the truck, no keys in the ignition and no keys on the seats. Maybe they fell down onto the floor of the truck, and it was getting pretty dark so they could be there and I just couldn't see them... yet I didn't feel confident that they were in the truck... but where else? I phoned Rev. Dale's cell phone and he was in the middle of dinner in a restaurant with his wife Hannah and a friend of theirs, so couldn't come give me a ride home to get my spare keys (and as I thought about it, I'm not even sure where my spare truck keys are). I called Brenda but she wasn't home, and was there any point in getting that ride home? Also, without my keys I couldn't lock up the Centre, so I couldn't very well leave there.
I sat there on the computer, reading blogs for entertainment as I dreamed of the half eaten slice of cold pizza and half can of Coke sitting in my truck. I even phoned my mechanics to see if they had any way of "breaking into" my truck. LJ said he could get in if the truck was there, inside the shop with light to work. Ya right... no problem, I'll just hop in and drive it over there. NOT!! So Larry suggested I call a tow truck to get them to open the door for me and gave me the name/numer of one they use often. He even said if I don't have money to pay for it just charge it to the shop and he'd pay it and I could pay him back when I could. Great guy, I tell you. Larry has been very good to me over the years. I hated to call the tow truck though, as I couldn't be sure the keys were in the truck and what a shame to pay for them to open the door and find no keys in there.
Then Rev. Dale arrived, having finished dinner, to help me out. He brought a coat hanger and used it to dig around inside my truck door until he popped it open. Yes!!! Looked around in the truck and guess what. No keys. Ahhhhhh!!
Dale said "they must be inside then" and went into the Centre to have a look around. Minutes later he found them sitting on the book shelf (after maybe 20 minutes working on the door in the rain). I don't remember having my keys anywhere near the bookshelf!!! But that is where they were.
I fool so feelish!! lol
I am so very grateful to Rev. Dale for "rescuing" me, and to Larry for being willing to let me charge the tow truck bill to the shop/garage and tack it onto my growing bill there, and to LJ for... well... nothing (lol). And of course, I'm grateful to God to be home :o)
I need milk and had planned to buy some today, but after all that I just wanted to get home without any stops at stores. Oh well, I have apple juice in the house to use on my oatmeal in the morning in place of my beloved milk. I ended the day with a nice, relaxing evening in front of the TV,and writing this account of at least part of my day. And now I'm off to feed animals and go to bed. I'm already ha__ __ __ zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZzzzzz
