Brandy Plum Jam and Jelly

These are the jars of Brandy Plum jam and jelly I made in early September 2006. Having entered a jar each of jam and jelly into the Salmon Arm Fair I had to make some... and my plums were not yet ripe. Not the Italian Prune plums or the Damson plums. Quite by luck, I met someone who has Brandy plum trees, full of ripe fruit waiting for me to go pick and turn into preserves.

My Brandy Plum Jam took 1st place at the fair while the jelly took no prize. For more results on other entries and such I had/did at Salmon Arm Fair, go check out my "old blog" Born2Cree8.

Congrats on the first place! That is some accomplishment.

I've not done a stitch of canning this year -- but we did make a lovely asian-style plum sauce with the damsons. The rest I either froze or gave to the neighbors and chickens...

Thanks for the congrats. It sure felt awesome :o)

I sure would love to get the recipe for that asian-style plum sauce you made with the Damson plums. I'll bet that is really good! I think at this point that putting plums in the freezer is the way I'll go rather than making more jam. I want extra jam so I can give some for Christmas and I want enough to get me through to next year... and a jar reserved for the fair in case I decide to enter again, lol. But I have much to do now, so will have more time in the winter for making more jams after Christmas.
